  16.    Shareware distributors (and diskette vendors) may distribute copies of the

  88.    5. Suggested long program Description:
  89.  
  90.   xDISK is a virtual-device driver to generate and modify RAM-disks in expanded
  91.   memory conforming to the Lotus/Intel/Microsoft specification (EMS) revision 4
  92.   or higher. xDISK consists of 2 programs: (1) XDISK.SYS, a block device driver
  93.   to be loaded after the EMS manager is loaded; and (2) XDISK.EXE, a utility to
  94.   communicate with the driver, allowing the user to modify the drive parameters
  95.   either directly or after a user-defined password is verified.

  97.   Without having to reboot the machine, the RAM-disk can be modified on-the-fly
  98.   to vary disk size, sector size, and/or root directory size; disk contents are
  99.   preserved by resizing services but not by others (see below). Requires MS-DOS
  100.   version 3 or later (or fully compatible operating system). Although EMS-based
  101.   xDISK does not require an EMS page frame, avoiding the need to allocate 64 KB
  102.   of (upper) memory for this frame.
